Reaction Summary

Throughout my entire early childhood, I have always pondered what it was that I wanted to do with my life. When I got to middle school, I would go to the YMCA after school program. In this program, there were a few kids that were mentally challenged. Around this time, my mother also started to go back to work and not be a stay-at-home mom. Her job happened to be a social worker for mentally challenged young adults. Ever since then, I knew that I wanted to be a special education teacher for kids. I want that fulfillment of doing something good for the community, while also helping to impact lives.

I would love to be able to make such a wonderful impression on someone else's life for the better. The starting pay for a special education teacher is roughly around 39,000 dollars, which is just right for me considering that you will earn more with the time you work. Gaining experiences would most likely include starting by working at some sort of a school or program guided by the state. I would love to work with children that are around the ages of ten to twelve years old. I believe that these are years that the most learning is achieved, and processes are learned. One of my goals is to become a teacher, and luckily for me, there is a very high demand for teachers in this profession. I believe that there will no problem finding the work that I seek anywhere in the country.

My outlook on this job is very simple. I am going in it with an open mind and a lot of patience, seeing that this job is said to be very stressful at times, but, at others, very peaceful. I am confident that I will do well because I have lots of experience in this field. I have been a counselor for the Yucca for 4 years. I have helped my mother on numerous occasions in cleaning out the house and apartments of the disabled. I have also read to a lot of challenged kids in a program over the summer for young mentally challenged kids. I feel that I very prepared for the field that I want to be a part of.

I know that I will make a very good teacher for the mentally challenged because I feel that I understand them, and that I have the ability to help them through everything that they are dealing with. I want to make this world a better place for them to interact within.

Many people have childhood dreams about what they are going to be when they grow up, but not many people are as fortunate as I am to have the means to become what I have always aspired to be since I was a little boy watching my mother with her clients. I hope that everyone will share my passion for this profession of becoming a Special Education teacher, and choose to also become a great teacher such as I aspire to be.
